Chick-fil-A Grand Opening at JA BizTown

The grand opening of JA BizTown’s own Chick-fil-A is set for April 7th, 2023. Junior Achievement (JA) of Oklahoma will host Eastern Oklahoma Chick-fil-A Operators, representatives from Chick-fil-A Corporate office in Atlanta, and Brent Fielder, member of the Cathy Family who founded Chick-fil-A. Chick-fil-A has held a long-term partnership with Junior Achievement locally as well as nationally.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Junior Achievement’s BizTown Program,” said David Chen, franchise Operator of Southroads Shopping Center and OSU. “We hope this opportunity will give students a taste of what it’s like to work in our restaurants, and we are thrilled to serve as an educational partner and help prepare students for a bright future.” Participating students will be able to work in a variety of roles within JA BizTown’s Chick-fil-A including Operator, Team Leader, and Marketing Director. Chick-fil-A joins more than 15 other local and national companies at JA of Oklahoma’s JA BizTown, which serves more than 10,000 fifth-grade students each school year.

JA BizTown helps fifth-grade students learn about the connectivity of commerce as they take on various business roles in a miniature town setting. After in-class curriculum around the circular flow of the economy and what it means to be a citizen, students have a job within one of the many storefronts in JA BizTown, and they learn what it's like to work that job. Students earn (and spend!) a paycheck, pay taxes, vote for their elected officials for the day, and ultimately work with their peers towards a common goal of paying back their start-up loan. Volunteers guide students through the simulation and provide their own life experiences to help students discover the endless opportunities their futures can hold.
